Scotland’s brand new motor show, the IGNITION festival of motoring takes place from 5 – 7th August at the SECC in Glasgow.
And, Lookers will be there with Glasgow Audi and Taggarts Jaguar. The line-up from the British and German manufacturers feature the new Jaguar F-PACE, XF and F-TYPE and the all-new Audi RS3, RS6 and the R8.
So what makes this motor show different to the others? Well, it moves! The roads of Glasgow will be taken over by more than 100 of the world’s fastest, most iconic and most desirable cars ever made. The one-mile street circuit will be constructed around the SECC complex with an exclusive selection of racers and rally cars, classic Grand Prix machines, supercars and a whole lot of metal to get your engines revving. The 2011 Formula One World Championship winning Red Bull RB7 will be one to watch as it also takes to the track over the weekend.
Starting at 10am on Friday 5th August, visitors will be able to enter the main halls at the SECC, shortly after the street circuit will be opened by Jimmy McRae with a few laps in the championship-winning Subaru.
There will also be a Live Action Zone where visitors can be entertained by exhilarating displays from JCB's Dancing Diggers, the 2Bros motorcycle stunt team and the Top Gear Stunt Team, led by Paul Swift. There’s an off-road course and a drift zone where Shane Lynch and Team Japspeed will be going sideways more often than straight.
Other star drivers appearing over the weekend include Porsche endurance racer Mark ‘Aussie Grit’ Webber who will be at the show on Friday; local heroes Gordon Shedden and Jimmy McRae; plus Shane Lynch and Top Gear’s The Stig, who will be driving a series of exotic sports cars from Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Porsche and McLaren.
