You’ve said ‘I do’, but will your transport be classic or new?
Out with the old, in with the new? Well, according to new research, this is no longer the case for wedding transport as classic cars are proving to be more popular.
Traditionally in the UK, wedding cars generally consist of Rolls Royce and Bentley models or other luxury vehicles. However, Studo434, one of the country’s largest classic car hire company revealed there is a new trend amongst special occasion hires - couples are leaning towards the classic car route.
Some of the recent hired cars have included a unique Aston Martin Lagonda “Wedge” and a Jensen Interceptor S Type, and if you can’t recall what they look like, here’s a reminder...
So what has caused this surge in cars from the past? Studio434’s General Manager Luis Sambs thinks that “today’s bride and groom are shunning traditional Rolls Royce and Bentley models for more unusual transport.”
“It seems that today’s modern, soon to be married couple, really like the idea of arriving and leaving the church in a different, more personal and unusual form of transport.”
As with any rarity, classic cars come at a pretty price so if you’re looking for ways to cut costs on your wedding transport, read some of these money-saving tips from the Wedding Site.
Classic cars definitely tick off the unusual box that will have heads turning on your big day, but exclusive modern takes can have the same showstopper effect. An example of this was seen when Metro Radio competition winners Barry and Rachael said ‘I do’ and Lookers Ford Sunderland was chosen to provide the wedding transport. Sales Executives Terry Kennedy and Dan Cameron chauffeured the couple to Slaley Hall in ‘His and Hers’ Mustangs, Barry in an athletic red Fastback and Rachael in a classy white Convertible.
It might all come down to budget and personal taste, or maybe the theme of your wedding, but one thing's for certain when it's your special day, you will want to travel in style. It is the start of your journey together after all.
