With a wider body and lower ride height, the new Megane RS looks serious. Special bumpers featuring a Formula 1 blade at the front and a diffuser at the rear provide style and racetrack practicality.
Sitting on 18 or 19-inch alloys, and guided by full LED lights on the front end, you wouldn’t miss the RS pass by. And if you aren’t looking the right way, you’ll hear the growl from the central exhaust exit.
But it doesn’t just look the part – it performs, too. Renault Sport have finetuned the turbocharged 1.8-litre engine to produce 280bhp, that’s handled by the manufacturer’s 4Control setup.
At lower speeds the rear wheels turn in opposite direction to the front, allowing for tight turns and manoeuvrability. And at higher speeds, the wheels angle in the same direction for improved stability.
The new model also becomes the first Megane RS to offer the choice of manual or EDC automatic transmission. Whatever your driving style, you’re catered for.

The Clio RS also gets improved body features, including the F1 blade and spoiler at the front, and diffuser at the rear below the dual exhaust.
Available in a number of styles, it comes with a choice of two automatic setups – one 200bhp, the other 220bhp. In a car the size of the Clio, that level of power doesn’t go unnoticed.
The EDC gearbox also has a manual mode, operated using the flappy paddles behind the steering wheel. And in Race mode, gear shifts are performed in less than 120 milliseconds.
Select one of three modes using the RS Drive button in front of the handbrake – Normal, Sport and Race. These modes can modify the transmission’s mapping, steering and sensitivity of the accelerator pedal.
As an entry-level performance car, the Clio RS offers a perfect balance between practicality and pace.
