Renault's Mégane RS 275 Trophy-R makes Nürburgring record

17th June 2014

Renault's Mégane Renaultsport 275 Trophy-R has proved a success at Germany's Nürburgring, where it broke the lap record for front-wheel drive production cars.
Following this, Renault has produced a limited-edition variant for sale, with 30 units available to the UK. Orders are currently open, and the first deliveries will take place in November 2014. The Mégane Renaultsport 275 Trophy-R is to be officially revealed at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place at the end of June 2014.

The 275 Trophy-R model shares production details with the 275 Trophy, as both models use a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 271bhp. In contrast, the 275 Trophy-R has been streamlined for weight improvements: it is 100kg lighter than the 275 Trophy and features chassis enhancements to help achieve this. Insulation and sound-absorbent materials have been removed, as have the rear seats.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres will be used for the 275 Trophy-R, and are mounted over 19-inch Speedline Turini wheels. Renault will also offer a range of optional extras that contribute towards the 275 Trophy-R's performance capabilities.
