How leasing a new smart works...

Firstly you will need to select a model, specification and payment profile that you are happy with. We will then ask you to complete a finance proposal form. Once the finance is in place (this normally takes a few hours) we require a signed order along with a deposit - this will ensure that the vehicle is secured for you. Deposits are then returned to you once the vehicle has been signed for and finance documentation will be sent out in the post. (Please note that all documentation will need to be signed for as per your signature on your ID).

We will require your original, in-date driving licence, both the paper and card part, stating your current address and with a matching issue number. If either part is missing, or shows a previous address we will need to see your passport and a utility bill dated within 90 days (smart Financial Services will not accept credit card or mobile bills as proof of address)

When taking out an Operating Lease or Agility Agreement we will need to see your insurance cover note for us to be able to register and tax the vehicle. smart offer a 7-day free insurance if required.

All documentation will need to be returned to us within seven days of the date mark.

Your vehicle will receive a Pre Delivery Inspection, PDI, on arrival with us. Once this is complete we will call you to arrange delivery (based on all paperwork having been signed, returned to us and approved). We aim to have vehicles delivered within a week of it arriving into stock with us.

Options for delivery are:

  1. To have the vehicle driven to your delivery destination. The mileage for this is included in your contract.
  2. To come and collect the vehicle from a Lookers smart Retailer.

On delivery/collection you will be asked to sign an acceptance note to confirm that the vehicle has no damage.

You are then free to treat the vehicle as you would your own. Included will be 3 years, unlimited mileage warranty and up to 30-years breakdown assistance cover.
