Versatility has always been at the heart of the Sharan models design, and the latest model is no exception with sliding rear doors, and enough space for the whole family. And their luggage. And the dogs.
Created to appeal to families as well as the executive market, the seven-seater Volkswagen Sharan has all the quality and style that a person would expect from this leading German manufacturer. The exterior has a solidly built feel and a similarly sleek, understated front end as its cousins in the Volkswagen family. Sliding rear doors make access easy and they can be motorised as an extra option.
Everything inside the Volkswagen Sharan is thoughtfully designed and hard-wearing. The flexible seating and luggage space can be configured in numerous ways. With body coloured door mirrors and integrated LED indicators as standard, plus electric windows all round, 12V sockets, and USB and ipod connections, the Volkswagen Sharan has plenty of luxurious touches. The SE has some additional features such as Bluetooth connectivity, self-sealing tyres, and a multifunction computer. The SEL model comes with six seats rather than seven and has smart leather upholstery. It offers an extra level of comfort in the form of cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, and a CD changer.
The brand new Sharan SEL comes with Discover Navigation as standard and also available as an option on the SE model.
Having been awarded the highest five star rating in NCAP crash tests, the latest Volkswagen Sharan has superb credentials. The range of passive safety features now includes nine airbags, a curtain airbag system for all three rows of seats, and there is even an airbag for the driver's knees.
The new automatic fatigue detection system monitors the driver's movements, and the new city emergency braking function applies the brakes automatically if a collision is detected at a low speed and even accelerates to avoid being hit from behind, as long as the road ahead is clear.
