Volvo’s stylish new V40 has undoubtedly confirmed its status as one of the hottest new hatches around. The manufacturer’s debut premium five-door hatchback is now available with more options than ever, meaning you can really make this great car your own.
Volvo’s V40 allows you to design your perfect car, selecting each aspect from the paint colour and cabin trim, to options such as alloy wheels and special steering wheels. The possibilities are nearly limitless, including heated front seats, autofolding power door mirrors and a handy blind spot information system.
Performance and Handling
Volvo’s tried and tested vertical suspension keeps the V40’s ride as smooth as possible, and ensures that you and your passengers are comfortable on long and short journeys alike. The V40’s handling through urban routes is beautiful, thanks to steering control that is more responsive than ever. Around the tighter corners the chassis demonstrates its great balance, whilst the R-Design features a lowered chassis for a sportier feel.
What’s more, you’ll find Volvo has packed the V40 with innovative new technology to improve the driving experience and enhance safety as well – from City Safety which helps prevent minor bumps in traffic, to Park Assist Pilot which takes the pain out of parking, the V40 is intuitive and well-designed.
Engine Specs and Fuel Economy
Available with a selection of 5 different petrol and diesel engines, the Volvo V40 is equipped with start/stop technology as standard, meaning the driver’s experience is more relaxing, not to mention more efficient. Within the diesel line-up are Volvo’s ultra-efficient 1.6-litre four cylinder D2 engine which returns a startling low 94g/km CO2 emission level, and delivers an incredible 78.5 MPG.
If you like a little more power beneath your pedals, the D3 and D4 engines are the range-topping options for that extra kick. The petrol choices are the T3, offering 150bhp, or the more powerful T4, delivering 180bhp; both are four-cylinder direct injection engines.
Featuring a noticeably more aerodynamic silhouette for a hatchback, the new V40 sits lower to the ground than many in its class. Combining top-quality design with innovative safety technology, Volvo’s crack team of engineers created the V40’s sleeker silhouette by popping an airbag beneath the bonnet. This means that if the front bumper sensors detect a pedestrian, the airbag is deployed, protecting pedestrians as well as your new V40, and giving you peace of mind.
On the inside, the V40’s style, substance and sense of fun really come to the fore. An airy and spacious cabin is created by the panoramic glass roof, plus there’s an all-new sleek black interior with sculpted front seats in Nubuck textile and perforated leather for superior comfort.
Adding a touch of space-age styling to your everyday journeys, the comfortable gear shifter is illuminated to match the digital instrument cluster, as well as the personalised interior LED lighting in the R-Design.
