Lake District

Back in 2017, the Lake District finally received the title in which it deserved — granted status of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The label, in part, was assigned thanks to the inspiration it provided to the likes of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. The area retains its appeal all-year round, offering something for everyone, 12-months of the year.

Instagrammable

This road trip through the number of ancient villages which litter your route exists as the utter definition of peace and tranquillity, helping you escape the pressures associated with modern life. Buttermere, in the north of Lake District National Park, has recently been named the most popular beauty spot on Instagram.

Kendal

Although Kendal calls itself the gateway to the Lake District, in fact, the small town offers so much more, existing as a rather impressive shopping town. Two retail outlets in the town are accompanied by a plethora of independent small businesses. Take a wander through the north of the town and explore everything on offer.

Ambleside

From this equally as beautiful town, you have the key to Lake Windemere. Jump on one of the many cruisers which are docked by the periphery of the lake. Or, take matters into your own hands and hire a rowing boat.

The Old Stamp House

Cumbrian chef Ryan Blackburn whips up a treat with his alternative lunch, dinner, or sampling menus which focus on utilising the heritage, the landscape, and the people in the local area. Locally sourced food and alcohol are paired in an ultimately divine fashion, helping to explain why this eatery has been a Food & Drink of the Year winner.
