Reviews emerge for the five-door Kia cee'd GT

7th July 2014

Kia has released the cee'd GT hot hatch in a five-door version for the first time, and the model is on sale now. Reviewers have made particular note of the car's impressive performance – and Auto Express has awarded it four out of five stars.

The review emphasises the look of the GT, which is “fantastic with its 'ice-cube' LEDs, GTI-style pinstripes and 18-inch wheels". Overall the new cee'd has a sportier and more purposeful feel, emphasised by the slant of the headlights and the sculpting at both ends of the body.

In a five-door style the model creates “loads of space in the back" for rear passengers and luggage. Soft-touch materials and gloss black accents create a relaxed and premium cabin atmosphere.

A turbocharged version of Kia's responsive 1.6-litre petrol engine powers the cee'd GT, lending it a 0-60mph time of no more than eight seconds on the way to a 143mph top speed. 201bhp and 265Nm of torque give the car plenty of potential and the ability to carry full loads without feeling sluggish. It stands on stiffened springs and dampers and comes with stickier tyres for enhanced road grip.
