The
site remains open for business as work progresses on the upgrade
Work is underway in a major transformation of
leading automotive retailer Lookers’ Nissan dealership in Gateshead.
The £1m upgrade will see the Felling Bypass site
transformed into a state-of-the-art facility for customers and staff complete
with a bright and spacious showroom with scope to display 12 new Nissan
vehicles.
The extensive refurb is the latest investment by
Lookers in its nationwide Nissan network following investments of £750,000 in
its Chester and Carlisle sites in 2022 and 2021.
With the final revamp expected to be unveiled to
customers in April, the dealership remains open throughout the build with all
normal services available at the site.
Built to exacting standards, the upgraded
Gateshead dealership will reflect Lookers’ ongoing drive towards full
sustainability with the addition of 3 new electric car charge points for
customer use, along with a further 5 in the workshop.
Martin Watson, General Manager at Lookers Nissan
Gateshead, said:
“We are incredibly excited about the
transformation of Lookers Nissan Gateshead, which will allow our 64 strong team
to deliver even more for our much-valued customers. With Nissan named among the
most popular EV and commercial vehicle brands in the UK, we’re delighted to
play our part in moving towards a sustainable future, as well as investing in
the local community here in Gateshead.
“With development work ongoing, it’s important
to stress that we continue to operate business as usual at the dealership with
all normal services available to customers throughout the upgrade process. It’s
an exciting time for the team as Nissan remains one of the UK and Ireland’s
most popular, future-focused and evolving car brands.”
As well as a new, larger sales floor, digital
innovations and extra customer parking bays, the redeveloped site will have
increased capacity to accommodate a range of next-generation Nissan cars and
vans, including all-electric and hybrid models as well as space for over 150
used vehicles.
The new Nissan ARIYA all-electric crossover
range will be showcased at the site.
Duncan McPhee, Chief Operation Officer at Lookers, one of the UK’s leading automotive retail and service groups, said:
“This significant redevelopment reflects Lookers’ commitment to investing in communities across the country as we work to confirm our position as the UK and Ireland’s leading automotive retailer.”
Founded in 1908, Lookers is one of the largest multi-franchise dealer
groups in the UK and Ireland, representing 33 volume and premium car
manufacturers and specialising in new and used electric car sales across a
network of more than 150 franchised locations.
