This year's Geneva Motor Show has all been about the supercar, the sports car and the luxury car. With the likes of Bugatti, McLaren, Audi, and Bentley showing off their latest high powered super stylish cars.
This week we got to see the last ever Bugatti Veyron the La Finale, the all new Koenigsegg, a Bentley sports car, and the new Ford supercar. Luxury brands Audi and Mercedes were not to be outdone with their supercar rivals as they unveiled their latest luxury cars including the new Audi R8 and the Mercedes-Maybach Pullman.
The Geneva Motor Show which takes place each year at the Palexpo exhibition centre kicked off with the European Car of the Year Awards on Monday. The Volkswagen Passat won the top award being named ‘European Car of the Year 2015’ beating off competition from the second placed Citroen C4 Cactus and third placed Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Volkswagen also discovered that the new Passat had made the final three shortlist for the World Car of the Year, which takes place at the New York Motor Show next month.
There were also a few surprises thrown in from the likes of Land Rover and Bentley, with Land Rover confirming production of the much rumoured Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet in 2016. Fellow British manufacturers Bentley also surprised at the show by unveiling their all new sports car concept the EXP 10 Speed 6 (see below).
Overall the Geneva Motor Show was one of the most exciting and revealing shows for years but what cars made the biggest impression with motoring journalists over the last week? We take a look at some of our favourites from the event.
Ferrari 488 GTB
The latest supercar form the Italian manufacturers is the striking 488GTB which features a 3.9-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine. The new 458GTB can reach 0-62mph in 3 seconds and has 661bhp.
McLaren 675LT
Now this really is something quite special the new McLaren 675LT, a 205mph lightweight, powerful supercar. The McLaren 675LT like the Ferrari 488 GTB has a 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine and can reach 0.62mph in 2.9 seconds.
Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6
This car was a surprise at the Geneva motor Show and what a surprise it was! The concept car from the British manufacturers is a new step into the sports car market and is expected to be the fifth product line. The EXP 10 Speed 6 is a two-seater sports car that has LED headlamps a 3D grille and a luxurious quilted interior. Bentley has yet to confirm the production of this car, but we hope that this one makes it into the Bentley production line soon.
Bugatti Veyron 'La Finale'
Audi R8
Audi supercar the R8 was also unveiled with some new style and body enhancements. The front bumper has a more aggressive style and a new aluminium and carbon fibre chassis enhances performance. The new R8 features a V10 engine, and will be priced from £119,500 when it hits UK showrooms this year.
Ford GT
We don’t usually think of Ford and supercars in the same sentence but this week we did when they showed off the new Ford GT to the European market for the first time. Ford who have said they will deliver an astonishing 12 performance cars by 2018 announced prices and specifications for the GT. The GT will be powered by a 3.5-litre twin turbo charged V6 Eco Boost engine delivering 600bhp. The new Ford GT will be priced from £250,000 similar to rivals Ferrari and Lamborghini.
Lamborghini Aventor SV
The Lamborghini Aventor SV is one of the fastest and most powerful cars ever made by the supercar specialists. The Aventor SV has a mammoth 6.5-litre V12 engine with 740bhp, can reach 0-62 in only 2.8 seconds, and has a top speed of 217mph, very impressive figures. This car may be one of the hottest cars at the show and at a price of £285,804 it’s also one of the most expensive.
Koenigsegg Regera
The Swedish manufacturers have created what might just be the fastest production car ever made with the outstanding Koenigsegg Regera. This extreme hypercar has three yes three electric motors and a 5.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine which produces a crazy 1,500 bhp! Now for the really Koenigsegg part, the Regera can apparently reach a speed of 248mph in only 20 seconds! The prices have yet to be revealed but are likely to be around the £1.5 million mark.
