The finale of the Lookers Electric Charge has been given extra spark thanks to racing driver Johnny Mowlem, who has test driven the brand-new Jaguar I-PACE as part of its 2,000-mile route. The 2013 European Le Mans Series GT champion got behind the wheels of Jaguar’s all electric sports car at Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich factory and test track as well as caught up with representatives at the facility to discuss the future of electric motoring..
The Lookers Electric Charge challenge aims to raise money for motor industry charity Ben and saw Lookers drive a relay of electric and hybrid cars 200 miles to destinations including all 155 of its franchised dealerships, where a range of fundraising events have been held.
Johnny said: “The Lookers Electric Charge has been a fantastic fund-raising initiative and I was proud to be part of the route, as well as test drive what is undoubtedly an astounding car. The I-PACE has set the standard for what the technology can achieve, and I look forward to seeing how Jaguar develop it further as the industry moves ever closer to full electrification.”
The launch of the I-PACE is a step towards full electrification for Jaguar Land Rover, which has said made the commitment that all of its new launches will be electrified by 2020. The Jaguar I-PACE is now on sale, starting from £63,495. You can choose from the I-PACE S, SE, HSE and First Edition.
