Not only is it National Apprentice Week but the 8th March also marks International Women’s Day. Therefore, this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our female apprentices and all the work that they do. Lookers supports a wealth of apprentices with many of these falling into the Vauxhall division. To get to know them a bit more, we asked two of our apprentices, Hayley and Rebecca to pick some random questions to answer.
Hayley Jevons (26), Apprentice Technician, Vauxhall Liverpool South
1. Any memorable moments from when you passed your driving test?
My first car was a shiny new Vauxhall Corsa! I remember going on tons of test drives before I decided that the model was the best for me. I based my choice on overall performance and comfort.
2. Would you say you’re the ‘sporty’ type?
I find myself taking a trip to the tennis courts to play matches with friends on a regular basis and due to the recent warm weather, we’ve been having, I’ve been visiting as much as possible.
3. Where was the last place you visited?
I went for a walk around the gorgeous Hilbre Islands in the Wirral. It’s beautiful to watch the tide go in and out and it’s a prime location for spotting wildlife.
Rebecca Brown, Apprentice Technician, Vauxhall Selly Oak
1. Which car are you MOST crackers about?
I really enjoy driving my new model MINI in sheeny orange, but I’m in awe of the retro look of cars. I prefer the old-school style classic MINI and I’d love to own one at some point in the future.
2. Do you have any pets?
I have an early start each morning as I’m up around 5am to go see my horse, Maggie, who I’ve kept for four years now. I also have a dog called Honey and two rabbits!
3. Thinking back to your first EVER time behind the wheel, how did you take to being a learner driver?
I didn’t really have any problems with the practical side of learning to drive, it all went quite smoothly. It was memorising and learning the theory that was the most challenging part for me.
Hayley and Rebecca are great examples of two people who are thriving within their apprenticeships and it is the perfect time for them to be celebrated for their work.
