Lookers Vauxhall Star City backs local team member in bid for motor racing glory

Luke Loveland is aiming to win the Legends Racing UK Points Championship title in 2023

Lookers Vauxhall Star City is putting its full support behind team member Luke Loveland as he sets his sights on motor racing glory later this year. 
 
The Heartlands Parkway dealership has secured a sponsorship of £2,000 for assistant service manager Luke, something the dad-of-one hopes will help steer him to success at the Legends Racing UK Points Championship later this year.
 
Luke, 30, from Tamworth, Staffordshire, said: 
 
“I’m over the moon with the backing from Lookers and very hopeful this will be the year I make it all the way. I grew up with racing as my dad was involved in the sport very successfully for many years, and I’ve been racing myself since I was 15. It’s a huge part of my life. 
 
“I’ve had lots of high points already, from winning the Pro Division Points Championship in Legends last year to winning the Rebels Racing World Championship in 2017. But my ultimate goal – other than every Legend Racer’s dream of winning in America where the cars originated – is to win the UK Points Championship title this year. I was runner up in 2022.”
 
Legends Racing, explains Luke, is classed as a semi-professional series, racing across the UK on both long circuits and oval racing. 
 
He added: “I race in the oval series which consists of 15 rounds across the UK across six different venues. The popularity of the series has ebbed and flowed over the years, but is currently doing very well with 25 drivers consistently entering the series.”
 
With a life-long love of motorsports, Luke explains just why Legends Racing holds such an appeal, despite an element of risk that comes with them. 
 
“There is an element of danger due to the speed involved, let’s just say my wife is not a fan, but the cars themselves are amazing. They weigh next to nothing and are powered by high-powered motorbike engines. It’s a very exhilarating experience,” Luke said.
 
And with a sponsorship of £2,000 also in play, Luke hopes the support of his team will help drive him even further on his journey to success.  
 
“The impact is two-fold really,” said Luke. “Having the backing of such a huge company, with the Lookers logo now on my car, is helpful in helping raise my profile, but also working with the organisation is great in that our values align, even down to the Lookers tagline, ‘A good deal. Better’. I’m always striving to improve and do better too, so it fits very well with my outlook on life, work and sport.”
