Vauxhall is helping younger drivers to enjoy more affordable motoring by offering 18-20 year olds one year's insurance for just £99 when purchasing the Corsa Excite or a limited edition model.
The carmaker has partnered with insurance provider Ingenie to deliver the deal, and also gives motorists the opportunity to recover the entire cost back through safe driving, meaning free insurance for one year.
Each qualifying model comes fitted with a black-box device to monitor speed, acceleration, braking and cornering. Every ten days or 40 miles, Ingenie will send the driver a score based on how safe their performance was via a smartphone app, alongside advice on improvements and how much money has been saved. Every quarter, an overall score is sent and money can then be reclaimed.
The insurance initiative can be combined with Vauxhall's Flexible PCP finance package to make the purchase of a new model even more convenient, as the car's cost is fixed and spread over a set period of months.
"This is ground breaking news for young drivers, some of whom could still be paying upwards of £2,000 for insurance when they're 18," commented Mark Pinkey, Vauxhall marketing programmes manager.
"We wanted to provide young drivers who buy their cars through Vauxhall retailers with affordable insurance to help them get on the road."
