Very disappointing outcome. I booked my mark 8 golf in to have the diagnostics carried out for a fault with ‘Travel Assist not available’ fault. The agreed cost for the fault diagnostic work was £150 but I was then told I would need to spend a further £237 to investigate the fault and that I would ‘probably’ need a new steering wheel - which would cost over £1,500 fitted! I was also told that there was no guarantee that this would even sort out the issue. So unfortunately the problem isn’t fixed.
I purchased an Audi A3 in December and have had numerous issues since day one. In the first week the battery died, a crack in the front window appeared after recently being repaired before sale and it has had constant condensation issues. They did pay for the battery replacement but having brought the car back to have the window fixed they said a further repair didn't work. They also said they checked the cabin filter but stated they had seen worse and it should be ok. As the condensation still occured, two days later I checked the filter myself and it was covered in dirt, bird feathers and gravel, which indicates the filter wasn't even checked as the debris could have been simply wiped off after inspection. It was replaced at my own expense and there is still condensation in the car which I was told was not covered in the warranty. The V5C form has not been returned from the DVLA and we queried this with Charles Hurst and they told us to contact DVLA ourselves. DVLA informed us that that we are not the registered keeper as no change of registration was received. I have no confidence that the form was even sent and I will now have to pay for the change myself. Additionally, I have just noticed numerous long scratches along the length of the passengers side which have obviously been t-cutted prior to sale. I will never purchase a car from Charles Hurst again and would advise others not to.
Visited Lookers Preston on the 31st of March for 2 reasons, 1. to look at purchasing a VW Golf and 2. for a part for my existing GTi which I am going to keep. I waited at the reception desk for about 5 minutes, no body there. I saw at least 8/10 other members of staff, half with customers and the other half in their offices, and some came out of their offices, walked passed and who saw me and didn't even have the COURTESY, PROFESSIONALISM nor the CUSTOMER SERVICE ATTRIBUTE to even acknowledge me, knowing there was no one there at reception. A few minutes after that, another customer came in for a service, and asked me if I had been seen, I replied no and we waited for another few minutes. Eventually, a member of staff came across, and one who had seen me come in initially, didn't even apologise for keeping us waiting. I explained my dissatisfaction for not even being acknowledged, and asked for the name of his CEO, (Mr Alex Smith) which he went to his office to get, which took another 5 minutes. By this time a 3rd customer came in and was acknowledged and served by a member of staff without asking who was first, and the second customer, who came in for his car to be serviced was TOTALLY overlooked. If these staff had worked in the City of London and ignored their clients like they did, they would have been pulled up and given a right talking too, as you NEVER know who is going come through the door! What an APPALLING advertisement for customer service/journey. To be TOTALLY ignored and NOT having the courtesy to apologise to either myself or the other customer waiting is TOTAL IGNORANCE. They seem to think they are something else and on a higher plain to their customers. I wouldn't buy a car from this branch, and if I did, I would ensure that I purchased it from another branch of Lookers from a vehicle at the Preston dealership. The only redeeming factor was the courtesy and professionalism of Ian in the parts department, who is wasted there! Thank you Ian again for the courtesy and respect you showed me. This should be forwarded to their Chief Executive office and the board, as I have a good mind to contact the CEO via LinkedIn.
I picked up my Volkswagen Polo R from Lookers Northallerton and everything’s been amazing so far. Matthew was great to deal with, really straightforward, kept me updated, and made the whole process easy. Great service! Really happy with the car and the experience overall. Would definitely recommend.
Whilst lookers centralised call centre is extremely poor, Nigel Harman parts manager was very helpful and ensured we got a call. Noff service advisor at Guildford very helpful and professional as was Martin in the workshop.
