The Motability Scheme provides an affordable, worry-free way for people with disabilities to lease a car. We spoke with one of our motability customers, June Wilkinson to learn more about her experience and the impact being on the motability scheme has had.
1. What are your key requirements when buying a car?
I am severely disabled and as a result can greatly struggle when getting in and out of a vehicle. I need a car that is of a good height to allow me to get in and out of the car easily. I am very heavily reliant on my car and wouldn’t be able to do without it.
2. What made you choose Lookers Vauxhall Birkenhead?
I have been leasing my cars on the Lookers Motability scheme since the 90s and am currently on my 3rd Zafira. The Zafira was the first car I tried, it was extremely comfy and fulfilled my main priorities mainly through its accessibility. The size of the Zafira is excellent for allowing me to transport any equipment that I need to and still allow enough room.
3. Can you tell us more about what your experience was like at Lookers Vauxhall Birkenhead?
The team at Birkenhead were extremely helpful and explained all the important details and features to do with my car and answered any questions that I have. All the cars we have received through Lookers Vauxhall have been brilliant and paired with the good people that work there makes me continue to go back.
4. What opportunities has leasing a car through the motability scheme allowed you to fulfil?
I do a lot of driving to Wales both for trips out and to visit friends and family. This combined with other frequent and daily tasks such as my shopping are all the opportunities that having my car has allowed me to fulfil that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to.
5. What advice would you give to others who are considering the motability scheme?
If someone was considering a car on the Motability scheme, I would tell them to go ahead and get one. There’s no reason to be hesitant at all. The motability scheme is there to help people; like me I would struggle to leave the house without my car and the motabililty scheme allows me to do this. It is a brilliant idea and I encourage anyone to use it.
6. Is there anything else you would like to add?
The main thing that I feel I should highlight is that Lookers Vauxhall do truly look after you. I am due my service in April and also due a new car in June and I trust the team at Lookers Vauxhall to provide me with the best service as possible. The team are courteous, and I truly wouldn’t go anywhere else.
