The new look Audi A4 and S4 has been revealed with a streamlined exterior and improved specification.
Newly designed headlights with LED technology feature as standard and flank a broader, flatter Singleframe grille. This is set off with resculpted bumper elements that help emphasise the width of the A4 giving it a more dynamic and sophisticated look. The side view shows off distinctive muscles above the fenders and the lower set shoulder line in between. They form strong contours above the wheels and point to the A4's quattro genes.
A real sense of space is created through the use of horizontal lines while a greater sense of sophistication comes from a new operating system. The hub of the new Audi A4 is the 10.1-inch high resolution MMI touch display which is directed towards the driver in the centre of the instrument panel. The previous rotary and push button control is replaced with a system that responds to fingertip inputs with acoustic feedback which permits free text input.
Navigation now features natural language voice control which means it can understand phrases used is everyday speech. To keep you connected, Audi connect infotainment is available on an upgraded three-month subscription basis giving you news, Google Earth mapping including Street View and flight, weather, traffic and fuel price information.
Audi Virtual Cockpit plus is a standard feature of the new Audi A4 range allowing the driver to operate the 12.3 inch display from the multifunction steering wheel with full HD resolution and a choice for three views.
Engine and performance
For the initial launch there will be a spread of four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines from the Audi A4 35 TFSI to the Audi S4 TDI with power outputs that range from 150PS to 347PS. Shortly after, the 30 TDI with a power output of 136PS and the 35 TDI with 163PS will be added to the range and quattro all-wheel-drive will be offered as standard for the most powerful TDI and TFSI engines.
At launch three engine variants will include a mild-hybrid system (MHEV) to help reduce fuel consumption and improve comfort. In everyday use, the MHEV system can reduce fuel consumption by up to 0.3 litres per 100km according to Audi's measurements.
