The new Audi Q7 has been revealed with an updated look and new technology. Read on to find out more.
Exterior
Crisper detailing with the latest in Audi Q model design might be the first thing you notice about the Q7. On the front is a large octagonal singleframe grille flanked by two-part side air inlets and Matrix LED headlights creating a powerful look. Opt for the Vorsprung trim and headlights are upgraded to HD Matrix LED units with Audi laser light. On the S line trim and above a blade in the front bumper, emphasised under-body protection at the rear and a full paint finish create an even more striking look.
Suspension
The new Audi Q7 is precise and agile, especially the Vorsprung trim which includes all-wheel steering as standard. Adaptive air suspension ensures a comfortable drive on motorways and provides variable ground clearance for driving off the beaten track. Black Edition and Vorsprung trims are equipped with tauter adaptive air suspension sport, which lowers the ride height by 15mm compared with the standard air suspension system.
Drivetrain
A choice of two diesel engines will be available from launch, with a petrol unit to follow, all of which are linked to an eight-speed tiptronic and quattro permanent all-wheel drive. Standard mild hybrid technology can reduce fuel consumption by up to 0.7 litres per 100km. The central component of this system is the belt alternator starter (BAS). If the driver eases off the accelerator between 34mph and 99mph, the Audi Q7 recuperates energy, rolls at idle or coasts for up to 40 seconds with the engine switched off. The BAS restarts the engine the next time accelerator is depressed faster and more gently than a conventional starter.
Interior
The new Q7 has great interior length as well as more headroom and elbowroom in the front and rear. Depending on the position of the seats, the new model offers between 890 and 2,075 litres of luggage capacity. An electric tailgate features as standard and comes with foot-activated gesture control when equipped with the optional Comfort and Sound pack.
On the S line trim features include front super sport seats, climate control and massage function, seat heating expanded to the second row and 3D BOSE surround sound system.
Technology
Two large touchscreens provide the driver with all the controls they need. When off, the top display blends into its surroundings. To complement this digital display, MMI navigation plus delivers fantastic connectivity through LTE Advanced, a Wi-Fi hotspot, natural voice control and Audi connect including online traffic information and navigation. Alexa, Amazon's voice assistant, is also integrated into the MMI system.
Vorsprung models offer even more technology such as Audi Phone Box, head-up display and an impressive range of automated driver assistance systems.
