When it comes to choosing a car for you and your family, we understand there are many things to take into consideration. Especially when you’re looking to switch to electric. From hatchbacks to SUVs, range lengths, charging times, interior space and more.

Below we’ve listed our top five best family friendly Electric Cars to help make your decision that little bit easier.

Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ford’s first fully-fledged electric car is built on an all-new platform and it’s available with either a 75 or 98kWh battery and with either a single motor or twin motor layout. Claimed range is up to 379 miles, making it one of the longest-haul electric cars around. This model sits five comfortably, has a hatchback boot and a 100-litre ‘frunk’ in the nose. As a result, it’s a proper, usable electric family car that beats premium rivals on both claimed range and value.

Kia e-Niro

The e-Niro offers great value, decent range, and plenty of family-friendly space. The official range is 282 miles for the 64kWh model, which is excellent for an affordable electric family car. On the road, the e-Niro is comfortable, practical, and efficient. This model comes with loads of standard kit such as automatic lights and wipers, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance, which combines to give it a very effective semi-autonomous driving mode. As a result, it’s one of the best value EVs around and spacious enough for all the family.

VW ID 4

The ID 4 is the second fully electric Volkswagen to be launched following on from the ID 3. It’s been designed for families looking to make the switch to electric, it’s bigger, pricier car than the earlier model, but offers Touareg levels of practicality in a Tiguan-sized package.  Some models can do more than 300 miles on a single charge, and practicality is impressive. The vehicle has lots of space up front and a 531-litre boot, which is larger than a Tiguan’s. There’s also lots of character such as neatly tuned control response, sharp initial performance, interesting design cues and a sense of maturity on the move. We think this is going to be one of the most popular electric family cars for years to come.

Volvo XC40 Recharge

The electric XC40 Recharge is, like most Volvo’s, designed to keep you and your family safe, whilst being beautifully designed, superbly built, and spacious. This electric car is available with built-in booster seats that, depending on the size of your children, save you having to carry additional child seats. This is another reason for considering it one of the best electric family cars on sale, as well as significantly more interior headroom and spacious boot space.

Skoda Enyaq iV

Skoda’s first purpose-built electric vehicle uses the same underlying technology as other dedicated electric cars but the Enyaq iV has pulled off an exceptional blend of value, useful functionality, and family friendly space, having lots of room for the whole family and a huge boot. The 201bhp ‘80’ shows performance that should satisfy most drivers and the 333-mile range makes the Enyaq very desirable on longer journeys too.
