Second Hand Hybrid Cars
With more and more manufacturers making serious efforts to move to electric and hybrid vehicles only, and the government proposing to allow only the sale of electric cars from 2035, drivers keen to experience the future can either opt for a fully electric vehicle or experience this first with a hybrid car. But what do we mean by a hybrid car?
There are two types of hybrid cars available:
- Plug-in Hybrid vehicles - These allow the owner peace of mind that they are using a more environmentally friendly fuel, for as much of the journey as possible, before the fuel-based engine will kick in to support and complete the journey. To charge the battery the owner then plugs in, similar to an all-electric vehicle.
- Self-charging Hybrid vehicles – These mix petrol and electric power to maximise fuel efficiency throughout the users journey and ensure a more environmentally friendly mode of transport than petrol or diesel only. The battery in Self-charging Hybrid vehicles charges through regenerative braking or using internal combustion engines.
