Land Rover was celebrating today after winning two major accolades at the annual Telegraph Awards in London. For the first time in the awards history the popular British manufacturers were named 'Best Brand' as well as winning 'Best SUV' for the new Discovery Sport.
This year's awards were held in the stunning Somerset House in Central London and saw big names from the automotive industry in attendance. The awards give a good indication of what the car buying public are thinking, they are voted by Telegraph readers from a shortlist created by the newspapers motoring experts.
The Discovery Sport is the third Land rover model to win the 'Best SUV' award, last year the Range Rover Evoque won and the year before the Discovery won. These consecutive wins have helped land Rover win this years 'Best Brand' award.
Speaking of land Rovers success Steven Huntingford said: This is the third year in a row that Land Rover has won the award for Best SUV, each time with a different car. Such consistently high standards explain why Land Rover is our Best Brand."
Representing Land Rover at the awards was Jeremy Hicks, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover UK who said: Receiving the Best Brand award for Land Rover is a highly-valued endorsement of just how far we have come during the past few years. With a series of new model introductions, including Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and this year Discovery Sport, we have built a strong product line-up that appeals to both new and existing customers.
“Winning the Telegraph Cars' Best SUV category three years in a row is enormously valued by everyone at Land Rover. It recognises the annual progress Land Rover makes in creating the most versatile and capable SUVs. Since its January launch in the UK, we have delivered more than 7,000 Discovery Sport models to fleet, business and retail customers."
