Exterior styling
The expressive design of the new model displays an octagonal Singleframe grille which represents the new face of the Audi Q range. Strong contours and athletically tight surfaces represent power and sophistication and frameless doors present a roofline that arches slightly towards the D-pillars which are supported by wide, muscular contours. These 'quattro blisters' link the Q8 to the original Audi quattro.
4,986mm long, 1,995mm wide and 1,705mm high the new Q8 has a presence on the road like no other Audi SUV. HD matrix LED headlights are fitted as standard along with dynamic indicators and an impressive light show during locking and unlocking.
In one of many customisable options, drivers have the choice of 12 exterior colours, including dragon orange and galaxy blue.
Interior styling
With a wheelbase of almost 3 metres, the Q8 offers plenty of space for five people inside along with a large luggage compartment and generous storage compartments and tray areas making it ideal for longer journeys. The luggage compartment holds 605 litres which increases to 1,755 with the rear backrests folded down.
The model includes two touch-operated screens (10.1-inch upper and 8.6-inch lower screens in the centre console) in a simple and clean interior with almost no traditional buttons. Natural language voice control can process questions and commands easily and quickly, for example, it can understand the sentence "I am hungry" and go on to suggest nearby restaurants, while MMI Navigation and Audi phone box ensure you stay connected.
Performance
A strong and efficient 3.0 TDI with mild hybrid system powers the new model, and with permanent quattro all-wheel drive and a ground clearance of up to 254mm the Q8 can continue when traditional roads end. The launch model will feature a six-cylinder 50 TDI 286 PS engine and will be capable of accelerating from 0 to 62mph in just 6.3 seconds on the way to a top speed of 144mph. An eight-stage tiptronic manages gear changes while Audi quattro and adaptive air suspension with controlled damping also feature as standard.
