After months of rumours, discussions and debates, the BBC has finally announced who will be stepping into Jeremy Clarkson's size 11's as the new host of Top Gear.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that BBC Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans will be taking the reigns as lead presenter of the extremely popular show.
The self-confessed car nut, who has a collection worth millions, announced the news on Twitter to his 1.8 million followers saying: “First tweet as new Top Gear host. I would like to say Jeremy, Richard & James are the greatest. And NO I'm not leaving the R2 Breakfast Show".
The news was met with a mixture of responses. Former hosts Clarkson, Hammond and May have reportedly given Evans their blessing with Hammond saying he 'didn't blame him for taking the job'.
Sir Alan Sugar said of the news that 'Clarkson would be a hard act to follow', while fellow BBC favourite Gary Lineker tweeted: ' Congratulations @achrisevans on being the #TopGear host. And to the BBC on a great appointment. One of the finest broadcasters of our time'.
Speaking this morning on his breakfast show, Evans confirmed that there will 'absolutely' be a woman on the show, and that the star in a reasonably priced car will definitely be staying as a segment on the show. The BBC has yet to say who will be joining Evans as his co-hosts but yet more rumours have linked Guy Martin and Suzi Perry to the roles.

Could this be the new choice of car for the star in a reasonably priced car section? We think the Focus ST in orange would look great zooming around the Top Gear track and even better when it's filled with overzealous stars clambering for that top spot on the leader board.

Chris Evans may be a super and classic car fan but this smart fortwo in night orange would be perfect to get him to and from his now many jobs. After finishing on Radio 2 the smart could easily navigate through the busy streets of London and down to the Top Gear studios in sunny Surrey.
