Lookers Land Rover team tackle journey for Cure Leukaemia
A team from Lookers Land Rover is participating in an epic cycling challenge from London to Paris in support of blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia.
Kirk Gill, Corporate Sales Manager at Lookers Land Rover Buckinghamshire, joins Anthony Gibson, Jaguar Land Rover Performance Manager, and two valued customers as they embark on the four-day journey covering 500km from Greenwich to the French capital.
The challenge forms part of Cure Leukaemia’s annual London 2 Paris cycle ride, which brings together more than 100 cyclists to raise vital funds for blood cancer research and treatment
The Lookers team set off on 4th June and hopes to raise in excess £4,000 to support the charity’s work.
For Kirk, who is taking part in the event for the fifth time, the cause is one that has become increasingly personal.
Every year I come away from this challenge even more passionate about supporting Cure Leukaemia.
What stands out to me is the way the charity works collaboratively with other organisations to accelerate research and improve outcomes for patients. The progress being made is incredible, particularly for children living with leukaemia.
Along the way you meet families and individuals whose lives have been impacted by blood cancer, and hearing their stories is a powerful reminder of why events like this matter. Once you’ve experienced that, you want to do everything you can to support the cause.
A keen cyclist, Kirk regularly takes to the roads with colleagues and friends but admits the London 2 Paris challenge presents a unique test.
We cover around 80 miles a day and face everything from steep climbs to unpredictable weather, but the atmosphere is fantastic.
The support from local communities, volunteers and fellow riders is amazing. It’s challenging, but crossing the finish line in Paris knowing you’ve raised money for such an important cause makes it all worthwhile.
The team is encouraging colleagues, customers and members of the public to support their fundraising efforts and help make a difference to people affected by blood cancer.
