Louis Harrington, Lookers Sales Executive at Mercedes-Benz of Ashford, was enjoying a different type of ‘driving’ as part of Team Lookers. The team recently won the Mercedes-Benz Trophy UK Finals played at the legendary Kingsbarn Golf Links in St Andrews. This stunning Worldwide Top 100 ranked course was the perfect backdrop to the largest amateur golfing tournament series in the world.
Joining him in victory were customers David Sandpearl, Martyn Griggs and Gary Lorton. The other ‘ace’ played by Louis was his claim to best retailer award with his 36 hole score with 73 points combined and 32 & 41 points resulting in a gross score of 67 in the final round.
The thrilling competition was played over 2 rounds on 16th & 17 October. Hosted in over 60 countries it saw some 60,000 budding golf professionals take part with the World Final due to be held in Stuttgart, Germany in September 2016.
David went on to qualify to play in the Stuttgart final along with 2 other customers from other motor groups.
The Team were delighted to have stayed at The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews soaking up some serious golf heritage. Talking of the experience, Louis said: “Highlights were David Sandpearl, a Lookers Mercedes Benz customer, who has managed to qualify to represent the UK in World Finals in Stuttgart of the Mercedes Benz Trophy. I am now looking forward to getting Lookers Mercedes Benz engraved on the prestigious team trophy we won!”
Dr Jens Thyme, Vice President marketing Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars said previously: “We are very pleased to celebrate this event with the people the series was especially created for in 1989: our customers and enthusiastic golfers.”
Well done to Louis and the team and good luck to David in the finals!
