David Vaughn from Lookers Ford in Leeds has been named Specialist of the Year as part of the national Motability Scheme Dealer Awards 2017, which recognised the support provided by the motor industry to customers of the Motability Car Scheme.
The national motor retailer took the opportunity to hand David the prize at its own Lookers Excellence Awards, where 350 guests were invited to a magnificent weekend in Monaco to celebrate success across the business.
The Motability Scheme Dealer Awards programme rewards best practice and ensures customers receive exemplary customer service across the nationwide car dealer network. With prizes available across nine categories, the awards are judged on how a dealer delivers the Scheme to customers, and is assessed by customer feedback and reviews of their Motability Scheme performance.
Throughout 2017 a series of quarterly, regional prizes were awarded, and all quarterly winners were nominated for the national awards. In addition to regional success, David beat off competition from across the UK to become the 2017 national winner.

The recent Lookers Excellence Awards saw nominees from 22 award categories across service and sales departments enjoy a relaxing weekend in Monaco before attending a glittering awards ceremony hosted by Vicky Butler-Henderson and Nigel Mansell.
David said: “Being recognised for my work for the Motability scheme was hugely rewarding and being in Monaco for the Lookers Excellence Awards was the dream place to receive my award. The Motability scheme is something I feel passionate about as it helps so many people in so many ways.”

Anyone who receives the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance, the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment, War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement or Armed Forces Independence Payment can exchange their weekly payment to lease a new car through the Motability Scheme. Insurance, servicing, RAC breakdown assistance and replacement tyres are included in the cost of the lease.
