Kind hearted Lookers staff from across the country have already began a range of fundraising activities for their chosen national charity Cancer Research UK. Last week it was announced that staff from all of the Lookers Group, had raised a whopping £19,000 for the British Heart Foundation. Lookers chose the British Heart Foundation as their charity for the first half of the year and last week they chose Cancer Research for the last half of 2015.
Cancer Research UK was chosen by the staff as it is so close to many people's hearts. Sadly cancer affects millions of people in the UK and is one of the biggest killers. In the last 40 years though, through research and early diagnosis the survival rate has increased dramatically. Cancer Research UK focuses on the prevention of cancer, early diagnosis, developing new treatments and optimising current treatments. To continue to do this they need as much support and donations as possible.
Here at Lookers our staff has already began the fundraising appeal by holding events such as dress down days.
The staff at Lookers Mercedes-Benz Brighton Branch took part in an Ibiza themed dress down day. Each paid a donation to dress in outfits more suited to a night in Pacha rather than a wet July in Brighton, they also took part in a silent auction to raise funds.
Staff at our Head Office in Manchester will also be taking part in dress down days to raise money with each staff paying a donation to wear what they like. We cant wait to see the pictures!
Neil Fowles from Lookers SEAT in Stockport will be taking part in Cycle Trans Pennine on the 19th September. Neil will be riding 120 miles from Manchester to Leeds and back again, all in the space of 24 hours. Anybody who wishes to donate to Neil's' Cycle Ride for Cancer Research can do so on his JustGiving page
Four brave members of staff from Lookers Vauxhall Warrington branch will be raising money by taking part in a death defying 100mph zip-line across the Welsh coastline. Ashley Burton, Brian Sutton, Barry Titley and Anthony Farrell will also take on Britain's deepest underground course at the famous Snowdonia Park. You can donate by visiting their JustGiving page.
The national charity was only named last week and it's great to see so many staff already getting involved. There are sure to be many more events, cake sales, dress down days, races, runs, cycles and plenty of laughs along the way.
We will be updating the website regularly with the latest fundraising events. If you want to find out how to get involved in any fundraising activities visit www.cancerresearchuk.org
