Lookers set to supercharge motoring careers in new ‘fast-track’ graduate programme

Lookers launches nationwide hunt for new graduates to train next generation of motoring industry leaders

Leading motoring group Lookers has launched a pioneering new graduate programme for 2024, providing aspiring graduates from across the UK to be among the first to get a competitive edge to build an exciting, sustainable fast-track career within one of the country’s most exciting sectors.

Supporting early careers and delivering best-in-class training and apprenticeship opportunities is a major priority for Lookers which creates opportunities annually under its ‘Jump Start’ early careers programmes, providing young people with a unique opportunity to work with industry experts and gain valuable experience in the automotive industry.

This year, Lookers is on the hunt for 10 future-focused graduates from right across the UK to join its groundbreaking 24-month structured training programme designed to supercharge a career in management at this fast-growing motoring group after gaining valuable experience working in every area of the business.

Applications are now open and the deadline for entries is Friday 30 August before this year’s intake take up their new positions at Lookers’ Head Office in Manchester in mid-September. Lookers is seeking graduates from right across the UK with opportunities in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Graduates joining the programme will receive a structured professional and personal development programme, comprehensive induction, focused learning assignments, peer mentorship and coaching, job rotation and role specific training as well as attending regular meetings with senior teams.

Chris Whitaker, Chief People Officer at Lookers, said:

“The UK’s motoring industry is one of the most dynamic, exciting and innovative sectors with huge opportunity for career growth and earning potential and we’re expecting huge interest from talented, ambitious graduates from all disciplines looking for an unrivalled chance to work in the one of the country’s most successful, future-focused and vibrant motoring groups.  It’s an exciting time for Lookers and we’re thrilled to be investing in our next generation of ambitious motoring industry leaders.”

Joining in programme, successful graduates can expect to start work in Head office, gaining insights into key business disciplines including HR, IT, Risk & Compliance, Marketing and Finance, followed by an expert introduction and training in sales, aftersales and servicing – all supported by Lookers’ experienced and knowledgeable management teams and subject matter experts. Once graduates have completed their final rotation, they can choose a specific area of the business and concentrate on the management side of that function.

Lookers is currently investing in every area of its business and aims to be the UK’s number one choice for all-electric driving. Founded in 1908, it now represents 33 volume and premium car manufacturers and has a network of more than 150 franchised locations.

Daniel Bishop, Lookers’ Head of Learning and Development, said:

“Our people are our priority and we’re delighted to be extending this unique opportunity to recruit talented, ambitious graduates from every part of the country to enjoy world class training and hands on experience combined with a highly competitive industry salary in a warm and welcoming working environment that champions health, wellbeing and diversity. This is a hugely exciting programme for graduates and for Lookers.”

Boasting a highly competitive salary – and uncapped earning potential after training – Lookers promises best-in-class learning and skills development, as well as the opportunity to work with some of the world’s biggest car brands, and we’d encourage everyone to make themselves known before the application window closes on Friday16th August 2024, successful applicants will need to be free to attend an assessment centre on the 18th September.

Applications will need a 2:1 degree or above in business management, or in any discipline, and be eligible to live and work in the UK. More information can be found here.

Earlier this year, Lookers also kicked off a pioneering group-wide initiative with strategic skills partner Corndel designed to drive learning, performance and career growth. The dedicated partnership currently provides over 50 Lookers’ colleagues with a unique opportunity to gain accredited, professional qualifications across three dedicated leadership programmes, driving career development and opportunities to progress.
