The Motability Scheme allows disabled motorists or their partners/carers to lease a car, scooter or motorised wheelchair to help them become more mobile. Eligible motorists can exchange their mobility allowance for a vehicle which can be adapted depending on their requirements.
As part of our Motability Awareness Week, each day on our blog, we’re bringing you a case study of real Lookers Motability customers, showing you how Motability has changed their lives.
Today we bring you the story of David and his VW Golf GTD.
David was an Optometrist and is a keen musician and photographer.
Several years ago David fell over a 3.5 foot wall and was seriously injured. When told by Physiotherapists that he would never walk again, David refused to accept the diagnosis and through willpower and the support of his family he proved them wrong. Now he walks and drives almost every day and tells us that Motability changed his life.
The VW Golf GTD isn’t just cool, it’s practical, with plenty of room in the boot for his scooter and hoist with the back seats still up. The easy accessibility and automatic handling provides even further ease for David out on the road and it looks pretty good too!
David has seen Kathy, a Lookers Motability Specialist, for several years and he is always impressed with her customer service and personal touch, ensuring he is happy with his car even after he has left the forecourt.
