The Motability Scheme allows disabled motorists or their partners/carers to lease a car, scooter or motorised wheelchair to help them become more mobile. Eligible motorists can exchange their mobility allowance for a vehicle which can be adapted depending on their requirements.
As part of our Motability Awareness Week, each day on our blog we’re bringing you a case study of real Lookers Motability customers and Lookers Motability Specialists, showing you how Motability has changed their lives.
Today we bring you the story of Margaret and her Ford Kuga.
Margaret is a teacher and below-knee amputee who has been retired for four years. As a child Margaret was thrown under a double-decker bus which led to her leg being amputated.
While in the teaching profession, Margaret relied on the Motability scheme for many years to visit pupils who are not in mainstream school. She says Motability offers her the right approach to motoring and has given her access to a car that offers total freedom.
Now she regularly gets out in her Ford Kuga which offers easy access and plenty of space. For 12 years, she has seen our Lookers Motability Specialist, Steve, who she ‘loves and respects’ because they are always on the same wavelength about what she needs.
