National Apprentice Week 3 adaptable ways that Lookers help you to adopt your own learning style

From behind the bar to selling cars, former pub owner Ben Wright, Trainee Sales Executive at SEAT Stockport, has already been picking out prezzies for you!

As a firm believer in the notion that no birthday is complete without a surprise, Ben bobbed over to the dealership on his day off to draw the curtain on a new car that a customer had been keeping secret from his son for his birthday.

After mastering his manoeuvres on the road and passing his test, Clive Redhead’s son was grateful to get his license and take some pocket rockets of his own for a test drive. With SEAT Stockport sneaking its way onto the new driver’s shortlist of dealerships to duck into and explore, his dad Clive commented:

“Ben Wright was very professional, helpful and attentive in helping our eldest son find his first car. Ben went the extra mile and even came in on his day off on the day of our son’s birthday to make sure the handover went smoothly. I’d definitely recommend Lookers when car-hunting and based on our experience, I’d visit again whether that be for myself, my wife, or my son! ”

Since joining Lookers, with no experience in the motor trade, Ben has become an advocate for ambitious individuals who are considering a customer-orientated career in the industry. Now, he is a role model for other colleagues for using CitNOW video technology to connect with customers.

Speaking of his time at Lookers so far, Ben tells us 3 ways and resources that have helped him adopt his own learning style at Lookers so far…

1. An adaptable training programme: The breadth of learning modules at Lookers stretch from interactive workshops and online e-learning, through to shadowing and hands-on-based approaches. Personally, I learn better by being able to ‘work it out for myself’ and Lookers adapted their training for me, allowing me the freedom to use my initiative, ask questions and develop an understanding of the sales and handover processes and the tools that we used to communicate as a team, such as Workplace by Facebook.

2. A personable approach: As a former pub owner, I’ve always enjoyed the social aspect of jobs. CitNOW video technology, which lets customers view cars without needing to visit the showroom, brings our personalities to life, letting us keep customers in the loop about their car through short and snappy clips, at the same time as getting to know them. Picking out a birthday card for one of our customers from me to go alongside the keys to his brand new SEAT was one of the highlights of my role so far!

3. A knowledgeable team: During my first week, my mentors gave me a guided tour of the showroom, introducing me to different ways of learning the models, their USPs and their features, and how we can help people discover and get behind the wheel of their dream car.
