Back in July we announced that we would be supporting BBC Children in Need (CiN) over the coming year. From bake sales to marathons, Lookers have already done a lot to help this great cause and our customers are even joining in with fundraising through our various initiatives.
Last week, our charity activation representatives, the Pudsey Pals, visited BBC Children in Need studios to meet each other, immerse themselves in the charity, and plan some amazing fundraising before spreading the message to their teams across the country. The Pals donned their Pudsey ears and enjoyed a VIP tour of the BBC Children in Need studios as well as hearing all about the charity and its plans for the coming year. The BBC Children in Need team touched on initiatives such as the Rickshaw Challenge, the Round Pound Countdown and the ‘Do Your Thing’ campaign. By the end of the day the Pals had a bag full of fundraising ideas to take back to their office.
The day started with an introduction to BBC Children in Need. Did you know that it started way back in 1927 with a five minute, Christmas Day radio broadcast? The first televised appeal was in 1955, but it would be another thirty years before the familiar Children in Need telethon would be broadcast. Pudsey came on the scene in 1985 and he has been a core part of the charity since.
This year’s ‘Do Your Thing’ campaign celebrates the Great British public at their best. Each year, the public amaze BBC Children in Need with the various ways they raise money for such a great cause. Lookers are no different and our Pudsey Pals came together to find creative ways of raising money for BBC Children in Need. Whether your thing is baking, running or even growing a beard, it can all be used to generate money to help children across the country.
With every Lookers dealership no more than five miles away from a project supported by BBC Children in Need, the impact will be felt at a local level. A talk from Manchester-based bereavement service, the Gaddum Centre, showed the huge benefits BBC Children in Need can have within our communities.
The Pals have now returned to their workplaces filled with fundraising knowledge and know-how, ready to empower their workmates to come together and Do Their Thing for BBC Children in Need.
We will keep you up to date on the blog of all our fundraising activities, challenges and initiatives to make a difference to disadvantaged children everywhere. Why don’t you ‘Do Your Thing’ for BBC Children in Need and let us know about it? If you would like to support us in our fundraising for Children in Need, pop into one of our dealerships near you to find out about how you can help.
