LStaff at Taggarts Jaguar are celebrating after a successful year at their new home in Hillington, Glasgow, which has seen increased sales volumes and the creation of 16 additional jobs.
January 2018 saw Taggarts Jaguar, which is part of the Lookers group, invest over £7m in the new site and move from its previous site in Maryhill Road in Glasgow, where it had resided for 36 years.
The new dealership includes a 29,000 ft showroom split over two floors, with capacity for over 70 external display spaces, making it the biggest Jaguar site in Scotland.
Other features include 21 customer parking bays, 14 workshop ramps and space in the showroom to display 9 new cars.
The move has already paid dividends, with new and used car sales volumes increasing by 60% year on year.
The same can also be said of the retailer’s parts department, which has grown its sales by 85% in the space of a year because of the increased retail and trade sales.
In a year that has seen total car industry volumes down by 6.83% in the UK, Jaguar UK grew its share by 4.15% and Taggart’s Jaguar Glasgow grew its share within Glasgow and its surrounding areas by 9%.
Overall staff headcount has also increased by 45% at the dealership, with overall staff numbers up from 36 to 52 over the year.
Brian Herlihy, Head of Business at Taggarts Jaguar Glasgow, said: “It really is a brilliant time to be part of the Jaguar brand, especially when you consider that Lookers Limited have invested so heavily in a world class facility here at Hillington. New product launches, like the brand new all-electric I-PACE and previously the E-PACE have set a supremely high standard for the industry and we are excited to be able to showcase them here in such a stunning retailer.”
As well as investing in its facilities, Jaguar Glasgow has been working hard to ensure that its customers have access to the very highest level of aftersales care.
Among its numbers are two award winning Master Technicians, with one previously awarded the number two Jaguar Master Technician in the World and his colleague voted number one Jaguar Master Technician in the UK. Both have had very long, successful careers with Taggarts Jaguar having started as apprentice technicians.
Brian said: “Not only are we the biggest Jaguar retailer with the most choice in Scotland, but we have some of the most highly skilled technicians, sales advisers and specialists in the business. This all adds up to an industry leading customer experience.”
