Community youth football club Thornaby and Ingleby Barwick Football Club (TIBS) have agreed a sponsorship deal with one of the country’s biggest car retailers.
The club, which represents 16 junior boy’s teams and an under 12’s Junior Girls team, has signed a deal with Lookers Volkswagen Teesside, which will cover the 2019/2020 season.
As part of the sponsorship, Lookers will appear on the teams’ shirts, as well as feature on pitch side advertising boards at its home on Thornaby Road and across its social media pages.
The sponsorship, which is part of the retailer’s community engagement strategy, will help the club to provide kits for over 220 players.
The club will be hoping that the additional funding will help it to attract the next generation of young footballers into its sides.
TIBS recently became this year’s winners of the North Riding FA Charter Standard Development Club of the Year Award, which highlights efforts to raise standards, as well as reward commitment and achievement within its ranks.
Nick Searby, Chairman at TIBS, said: “As a community-based football club, we are always looking to strike partnerships with local businesses and organisations that also provide an important service to the surrounding area. Lookers Volkswagen Teesside is a key part of the local business landscape and has a long history of supporting local initiatives and clubs like ours. This makes it a perfect fit as we look to achieve even greater success over the coming seasons.”
Sheldon Cockburn, General Manager at Lookers Volkswagen Teesside, said: “We are immensely proud to be sponsoring Stockton Town Football Club, who are a massive part of the local community. Many of our staff have a direct link to the club, including supporting their children as they advance through the ranks.
“We will be watching the club’s development with great interest and wish all the players and the coaching staff there the best of luck with their upcoming games and preparations for the 2019/2020 season.”
