A team of 10 staff members from the Lookers Ford Chelmsford dealership joined more than 1,200 other runners last month in a bid to raise as much money as possible for an Essex hospice.
Nicola Pearson, Gary Joslin, James Bosher, Peter Bosher, Scott McCreadie, Gareth Jones, Alan Ellwood, Jack Whiteley, Matteo Sancesario and Alex Elliott were all running as part of the 2014 Birketts' Race4Business event.
Competitors lined up in the centre of Chelmsford at 6.30pm on Thursday, June 26, before racing down the high street and following a route through the city's parks. A number of celebrities, including former England cricketer Graham Gooch and BBC Essex presenter Dave Monk, pulled on their trainers to support the fundraiser.
It's hoped that this year's event, organised by the law firm Birketts, will manage to raise £25,000 for Westcliff-on-Sea-based Havens Hospices, which care for adults and children who have been diagnosed with serious illnesses. The organisation also offers respite care and is focussed on making every day count for people suffering from life-limiting illnesses, and their families.
More than 100 teams took part on the day and the Lookers Ford Chelmsford runners battled through the field to claim a very respectable 13th place.
