Since it manoeuvred its way onto the market in an unmissable Nitrous Blue back in 2016, the Ford Focus RS has always been known for its bold nature and we’re now wishing it a fond (almost fluorescent orange!) farewell. On Friday 6 th April, the final MkIII Ford Focus RS will be skedaddling its way off the Saarlouis factory production line in Germany. But first, let’s say hello to the final raft of this memorable model…
Part of a new Heritage Edition, 50 scorching sought-after examples in striking ‘Deep Orange’ paintwork have been built to mark the end of an era for the Ford Focus RS. Black forged alloy wheels and black door mirrors create a tiger-like contrast and the 2.3-litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine roars power –it’s up from 345bhp to 372bhp due to a Mountune upgrade. A boosted torque has soared from the standard RS’s 347lb ft to 376lb ft and a rear spoiler, the part-leather Recaro seating and a swish sunroof all speak volumes about style.
Thanks to a front mechanical Quaife limited-slip differential, the model does not compromise on power or stability. Discovered by automobile mag EVO during a recent test drive, the diff improves traction and control when approaching sharp turns. The driver will also benefit from car comforts such as cruise control, a heated steering wheel, rear parking sensors and privacy glass.
Eyes on fire for this dreamboat of a motor? Burning desire to buckle up behind the wheel? The price tag stands at £39,895 GBP and our five Ford stores below will be selling a model each. The Heritage Edition's price tag is just over £7,000 more expensive than a standard RS, but will likely justify some of that increase with better resale value as a last-of-the-line model. It also commemorates 50 years of the Escort nameplate, a car synonymous with many RS models throughout its history.
