Honda Go Full Throttle at CarFest South

CarFest - the brainchild of the new Top Gear host Chris Evans – aims to raise funds for BBC Children In Need. A family-orientated, high-octane event with a blend of fast and exotic cars, celebrity cameos and live music from some of the hottest acts around, the event is expected to draw tens of thousands of people.

A full Honda stand is expected to showcase their newest car range including the Civic Type R, Civic Sport, Civic Tourer, HR-V, CR-V, Jazz and the model driven by F1 World Champions Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button – the McLaren-Honda MP4-30 in a box.

The 'King of the Hell' Xbox roadshow will offer festival-goers the opportunity to win a brand new Civic Type R for a year. In return all they have to do is set the fastest time around the notorious Nürburgring Nordschleife in a state-of-the-art simulator. Simple!

Sir Jackie Stewart famously named this stretch of road 'The Green Hell'. The 12.9-mile Nordschleife is considered to be the most challenging and daunting circuit in the world, with each lap comprising no fewer than 154 corners, huge bumps and numerous surface changes.

Honda's 'Race Car for the Road', The British-built Civic Type R, is the most extreme and high-performing model ever to wear the acclaimed 'Red H' badge. Last year it set a new front-wheel-drive lap record on the track, and in recognition of its arrival in UK dealerships, drivers are able to test their skills by getting as close as possible to that impressive benchmark.
And it's not all about the cars. There will be a range of activities and innovations to delight and inspire future drivers too. Miimo - Honda's Robot mower –– will be a working display in the Honda activity centre.

Meanwhile many of the activities from last summer will make a welcome return. The thrilling 'My First License' is a particular favourite, a mini-motorbike session that safely allows 5-to-11-year-old non-riders to be introduced to the adrenalin fuelled world of motorcycling. Parents will be relieved to know it is performed in a controlled and fully supervised environment with of course helmets and kneepads! At the end of the experience the children are awarded a special licence.

Safety is a key objective in 'The ATV Experience'. Honda's TRX420 continues the fun yet educational theme, tutoring older teens the finer details of throttle control, slaloming, overcoming obstacles and balance.

Philip Crossman, Managing Director at Honda UK, said: “CarFest South is fantastic fun for all the family and jam-packed with exciting and interactive things to do for people of all ages. The music line up looks fantastic – as does the food offering, much of which is sourced from Laverstoke Park itself. We aren't quite sure of the weather yet, so will have both wellies and flipflops on standby!"

Honda previously participated in last years CarFest events as well as this years CarFest North held in July.
