Revealing Kia's compact SUV - The Kia Stonic

If you’re a fan of the Rio, but would like something on a bigger scale then you’re in luck!

  • The all-new Kia Stonic is inspired by larger Kia SUVs

  • New vehicle brings compact dimensions and a low centre of gravity to the class

  • Customisable options offered like never before on a Kia

  • On sale in the second half of 2017

The All New Kia Stonic was unveiled last night and it’s set to rival the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur amongst other small SUVs in the market.

Its sleek and contemporary body shape distinctly resembles the Rio, yet Kia have offered much more customisation for the Stonic with a stylish two-tone paint finish and up to 20 combinations to choose from. In addition, there are also five unique colours for the roof, which is sure to please customers who have an eye for design.

On the interior, the customisable colour-scheme is carried through making the cabin more bright and modern aided by plenty of generous leg, shoulder, and headroom. Technology highlights include heated front seats, automatic cruise control, keyless entry and a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen display on some models and for those who like to stay connected, there will be Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on-board, most likely as an optional extra.

Under the bonnet, there are 3 petrol engines to choose from – the new turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder T-GDI, a 1.25-litre, and a 1.4-litre four-cylinder with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel option available too. Although fuel economy figures are yet to be released, the Diesel is set to produce the lowest emissions and it’s possible a hybrid version could also appear further down the line with technology from the Niro.

Safety features include autonomous emergency breaking, blind spot detection, lane departure warnings, and high beam assist as well as alerts for pedestrian recognition and forward collisions, rear-cross traffic, and driver attention making it an ideal family car.

Naturally, the Stonic comes with Kia’s 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and prices are set to start from a competitive £14,000 only a few pegs above its hatchback sibling.

Stay tuned for more news on our website and social media, and of course keep an eye out for the Stonic in showrooms later this year…
