The first fully electric power Audi
The prototype of the first all-electric Audi model has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. With the space and comfort of a luxury car, this sporty SUV has a range suitable for everyday use. Before the car goes into production almost 250 vehicles will be tested under extreme conditions around the world, covering 3 million miles.
The special camouflage hides a sporty premium SUV with space for five people along with luggage. The range of the car is suitable for longer journeys allowing people to drive purely electrical without compromise.
The production version of the Audi e-tron prototype can be charged at fast-charging stations with up to 150kW charging capacity in just under 30 minutes, ready for the next leg of a long-distance journey. The electrical quattro move four-wheel drive into a new age and provides strong performance on any terrain.
The production version will be launched at the end of 2018 and will be manufactured at Audi's carbon neutral plant in Brussels.
Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, said: “Audi sets an important milestone for the company’s future with its first purely electrically powered model.
“In 2020 we will have three all-electric vehicles in our product range, with a four-door Gran Turismo – the production version of the Audi e-tron Sportback concept – and a model in the compact segment joining the sporty SUV. We will launch more than 20 electric cars and plug-in hybrids by 2025. “
