The newest version of the Audi A5 Sportback has made its appearance blending an elegant design with high functionality and interior comfort. It also features the latest infotainment features and a completely re-engineered suspension and innovative driver assistance systems. The Audi S5 is equipped with a new six-cylinder turbo engine producing 354hp and 500Nm.
Exterior design
Dramatic shapes and athletically taut surfaces make up the features of the new A5 Sportback with a look that features a stretched wheelbase, short overhangs and a long, wraparound front lid with power dome. The Singleframe grille which features on the front of the vehicle is significantly flatter and wider than the previous model. The wave-pattern shoulder line is even more strongly accentuated than the previous model and traces all three dimensions. The A5's quattro DNA is emphasised by pronounced bulges over the wheel arches. Equally precise styling features on the rear with a stretched luggage compartment lid which ends with a characteristic spoiler edge.
The body of the A5 is the lightest in the segment. Thanks to an intelligent mix of materials it's 15kg lighter than its predecessor.
Engines
The Audi A5 Sportback will be available with a choice of two TFSI and three TDI engine versions producing between 190hp and 286hp of power. Fuel consumption has been reduced as much as 22% compared to previous models while power output has increased up to 17%.
Every engine version features tailor-made drivetrain technology including six-speed manual transmission, seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission or eight-speed tiptronic. Front wheel drive is featured as standard with the option to add quattro in two versions. However, within the 3.0TDI with 286hp quattro features as standard.
The new Audi S5 Sportback's V6 turbo engine accelerates from 0 to 62.1mph in 4.7 seconds on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 155.3mph and features quattro and the eight-speed tiptronic as standard.
Interior
Inside, the new S5 Sportback has grown in size gaining 17mm in interior length, an extra 11mm of shoulder room for the driver and front passenger and 24mm of leg room in the rear. This spaciousness is further emphasised by the horizontal architecture of the instrument panel. Sophisticated materials are used in the interior, including optional ambient lighting with 30 colours to choose from.
The Audi A5 Sportback rates among the best in its class in terms of luggage capacity with 480 litres available. The option to add sensor control for opening the standard-fit electric luggage compartment lid will be available.
