The new Audi R8 comes with a sportier design, more power and greater performance and will open for order early 2019.
Engine
The naturally aspirated 10-cylinder engine provides an instant response and a unique sound. Power has been increased by 30PS to 570 PS and torque increased by 10Nm to 550Nm while the 5.2 FSI engine in the Audi R8 V10 performance quattro generates 620PS (an increase of 10PS) and has improved torque of 580Nm thanks to an optimised valve train with components made of titanium.
With this power the Audi R8 V10 Coupe quattro can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 3.4 seconds (3.5 seconds in the Spyder) on its way to a top speed of 200mph. The R8 V10 performance quattro Coupe makes it in just 3.1 seconds (the Spyder 3.2 seconds) with a top speed of 205mph.
Suspension
The suspension in the new model provides even more stability and precision with re-tuned assistance on both the optional dynamic steering and the electromechanical power steering. The Audi drive select profiles have been simplified to feature comfort, auto, dynamic and individual options. On the R8 V10 performance quattro you’ll find three additional programmes as standard - dry, wet and snow. Thanks to enhanced Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC) the R8 V10 performance brakes from 62mph to standstill up to 1.5 meters earlier with a stopping distance up to 5 metres shorter when travelling at 124mph depending on exterior conditions.
Design
The design of the R8 has been improved. The singleframe radiator grille has wider and flatter lines and the new front splitter is wider underscoring the focused look of the model. Thick bars divide large air inlets and flat slits in the hood point to the Audi Sport quattro brand icon.
The new Audi R8 V10 quattro is equipped with 19” wheels and for the standard-fit steel discs Audi supplies red as opposed to black painted calipers as an option. In the engine compartment the air filter sits under a new, three-part cover which is available in a choice of plastic or carbon fibre.
Three exterior packages will be available, depending on the engine variant, and add various highlights to the front splitter, side trims and diffuser. The R8 V10 quattro with 570PS comes with high-gloss black as standard while the R8 V10 performance quattro features a matt titanium look. High gloss carbon styling will also be available on the performance model.
The new look continues into the interior with a driver focus and new colour stitching options. Customers will be able to choose from a range of options to customise their R8 inside and out meaning you can make your R8 as individual as you are.
