There are four main car finance options when you buy a new car with Lookers:
• Hire purchase – you provide an initial deposit, then pay off the remaining loan balance in monthly instalments. Once fully paid, you will own the vehicle fully.
• Personal contract hire – pay a deposit, contribute monthly payments for a set time period – confirmed at the start of the agreement – then return the vehicle once the agreement has ended.
• Personal contract purchase – make an initial deposit, pay off the amount you borrow to obtain the vehicle in agreed instalments, then pay a dealer-agreed final payment, in order to receive full ownership of the vehicle at term end.
• Personal loan – take out a secured or unsecured loan with a bank, building society or finance company and use the funds to pay for a new vehicle. Loan can be paid off over a set number of years, at a fixed interest rate.

As new cars are normally more valuable, they are usually more expensive to insure. It does depend on several factors though, including what car insurance group the car is in and your personal driver history.
It depends. You’ll pay a set amount of tax based on the car’s CO2 emissions in the first year. If your car is worth more than £40,000, you’ll have to pay an additional rate of £425, on top of the standard rate for five years.

Terrible service. We returned a car to Lookers Kia 9 days and still waiting for our money back, even though it was promised ‘on return of our acceptance of their offer’ No communication and no callbacks to our multiple phone calls . Avoid like the plague.

So after many years of buying cars and my husband having mechanical and engineering experience we hesitantly went to a dealership as they had the brand and model of car we were looking for. We were aware we would be paying a little more than the book price but hoped we would get some peace of mind. We bought a Lookers Darlington Used approved car and expected as described it to have had a 100 point check. When test driving the car there were a couple of things we requested to be checked before collection day and we were assured by Sales person it would all be tip top ready to collect. We followed our requests for our trade in ie log book, locking wheel nuts, two keys etc but on collection day our new car did not have the locking wheel nuts, so hesitantly drove the car away and again assured this would be rectified the next day. It wasn’t and after chasing the sales team, eventually they delivered one to us, as we highlighted the importance of having it, if we had a puncture. So then first rain we had after a very dry April, we found the back windscreen wiper squealing and not fit for purpose. Then a banging sound from beneath the car. Two weeks later an engine management light came on highlighting an exhaust/catalytic converter problem! 100 point check I think maybe not. So having to return back and forth to the garage to rectify the problems and at our cost in terms of fuel and favours, in other family members driving over, to drop off and collect the car. Car booked in this week and no 100 point check done and windscreen wiper still squarking and told it would all be fixed when the exhaust part was fitted in June! Very disappointing service and no peace of mind, that we paid over the odds for. Lesson learnt.
Bought my car from Audi a year ago and the salesman was fantastic and got me a really good deal etc but ever since they have been shocking. The aftercare from Audi has been absolutely terrible, I was told when I bought the car I had 1 years Audi warranty and I also paid for the body and alloy care too. Months after I paid for the service and MOT care plan. Used my first one in December and they gave me my car back in a worse condition then when I took it to them with damage to the bumper and rear wheel arch of the car. They tried to deny at first but I had evidence then as a “good will†they put it right, I then forgot about this issue. My warranty was supposed to cover me until march 28th and I had an issue with my aircon button on the car on the 23rd so I made a call to Audi and they said they can check it out but it will not be until may 22nd to which I said that’s not my problem you can’t make the appointment and they agreed and were happy to take a look at 9am on 22/05/2026, they then decide to call me on the 21/05/2026 at 16:14 to tell me that they can’t look at my car as it’s under RAC warranty and not Audi, when I bought my car I was told it was Audi warranty, the lady on the phone then admitted it was a “sales issue†so there for they should put it right I was told no. I am totally disappointed with the after care of Teesside audi to the point I will never use them again in the future for the purchase or the service of a car and I certainly would not recommend. My sales man told me at the time of buying my car they had problems in the past and were now committed to making there customers happy and stay there for life. This does not look to me as if they are heading in the right direction.
Just purchased my new car from Audi Glasgow. Service was exceptional from start to finish, from reservation to aftercare. Mick Riley supported me through the sales process very well, was very informative and engaging.
Had good experience buying yamaha r7 Alex kept me updated throughout the process, made sorting out paperwork easy, explained all the electronics on the r7 and was offered fair price for my trade in. Been with Charles Hurst for years from honda now to yamaha. Shout out to guys in servicing/parts as well for maintaining my bikes.
Don’t support Charles Hurst Jeep Belfast. I had an extremely negative experience involving one of their employees, whose behaviour was found to be dishonest, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. I personally felt attacked by the misogynistic, ageist, rude manner in which I was addressed. Employees reflect the values and reputation of the company they represent. Based on my experience, I am deeply disappointed and would not recommend this business.
