There are four main car finance options when you buy a new car with Lookers:
• Hire purchase – you provide an initial deposit, then pay off the remaining loan balance in monthly instalments. Once fully paid, you will own the vehicle fully.
• Personal contract hire – pay a deposit, contribute monthly payments for a set time period – confirmed at the start of the agreement – then return the vehicle once the agreement has ended.
• Personal contract purchase – make an initial deposit, pay off the amount you borrow to obtain the vehicle in agreed instalments, then pay a dealer-agreed final payment, in order to receive full ownership of the vehicle at term end.
• Personal loan – take out a secured or unsecured loan with a bank, building society or finance company and use the funds to pay for a new vehicle. Loan can be paid off over a set number of years, at a fixed interest rate.

As new cars are normally more valuable, they are usually more expensive to insure. It does depend on several factors though, including what car insurance group the car is in and your personal driver history.
It depends. You’ll pay a set amount of tax based on the car’s CO2 emissions in the first year. If your car is worth more than £40,000, you’ll have to pay an additional rate of £425, on top of the standard rate for five years.

My experience with Mercedes-Benz of Shrewsbury has been consistently unacceptable, and I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this garage. This is my first ever Mercedes, a Mercedes-AMG C43, and it will also be my last. I had been seriously considering purchasing a brand new CLE 53, but after the past two years of dealing with this joke of a dealership, that decision has completely changed. On two consecutive visits, I was charged for a “B†service at nearly £800 each time, despite the service schedule typically alternating between A and B services. On my most recent visit, they also attempted to overcharge me for the same “B†service. It was only when I questioned the price that it was revised, and even then, no one could clearly explain the discrepancy. That raises serious concerns about how customers are being charged. I was also told additional work would be completed, only for the dealership to later deny responsibility when I queried why it had been half done. During the last visit, the car appeared to have been driven aggressively on a road test, something I could see via the Mercedes Me app. (The MPG was the lowest I had ever seen it!) That is completely unacceptable. The condition the car was returned in was equally poor. Despite being told it had been cleaned, the standard was extremely low. I could have probably cleaned it better myself with a single piece of toilet paper! More concerning, personal belongings in my boot had been gone through despite being inside a bag, with no reason whatsoever for anyone to access them. On top of that, interior trim was also damaged during the visit. Trying to resolve any of this was a waste of time. I was met with an argumentative and dismissive attitude on the phone, and a promised callback that never happened. I also know of several other people who have shared similarly poor experiences with this garage, which suggests this is not a one-off issue. For a brand that claims to be “premiumâ€, this level of service is nowhere near acceptable. If you are in the area, do yourself a favour and go to another garage (maybe Audi?) instead. They are nearby, and on a completely different level when it comes to customer service and professionalism. Mercedes-Benz of Shrewsbury has completely put me off the brand. I will not be returning. I’m not a fan of posting negative reviews, and I do always try to get things set right before airing my opinions, but as above, they’ve had ample opportunity to phone me back. Just make sure you are not their next victim.
