The ID.3, the first arrival from the ID. family, is a compact all-rounder that suits the everyday needs of the electric car driver. It's the first Volkswagen on the market to be based on the newly developed Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB) and is powered by a 125 kW/170PS electric motor, delivering a range of up to 260 miles.
The ID.3 is positioned as a compact electric car, with a new Volkswagen design language for electric vehicles of the compact class. What is known as the Open Space Concept has been implemented for the first time in the car’s interior. Although shorter than a Golf, the ID.3 offers the generous space of a Passat. This is made possible by the new drive concept architecture with an electric motor on the rear axle and a high-voltage battery in the vehicle floor, which enables more space and flexibility.
Acceleration
The new ID.3 can accelerate from a standing start from 0-62mph (0 to 100 km/h) in only 7.3 seconds. No gear shifts, no delay. Instead pure torque. From the get-go. That means you’ll be even two seconds faster off the mark than the sportily designed standard version.
Interactive Light
The ID.3 helps assist you with your day-to-day life. The lighting concept is more interactive than anything you’ve ever seen before in a car. It greets you, can help with the navigation and tells you to press the brakes when danger is detected. It can even warn you of any road users approaching as you get out of the car. The LED headlights light up the road ahead, and can adapt perfectly to any environment. This makes it easier to drive in any situation.
Convenient Refuelling
With the ID. charger you have a filling station in your own home. Now you can get into your ID.3 in the morning and start your day full of energy. You could say it's refuelling in your sleep. There are two versions of the ID. charger with increasing connectivity and intelligence.
Fully Connected
The digital services from “We Connect Start” turn the new ID.3 into a connected car as the built-in SIM card can connect the vehicle to the Internet upon request. Real-time traffic information, charging stations with charging status, prices and opening times can be consulted. With the matching We Connect ID. app you can keep an eye on your vehicle and your smartphone can be used like a remote control. Using the app, you can see the remaining range of your vehicle, set the air conditioning system and start or stop the charging process. You can use “We Connect Start” for free for three years in the ID.3. This keeps you connected with your vehicle – whether you are out and about or at home on the couch.
