A number of electric vehicles (EVs) are available on the Motability Scheme. You could also qualify for a free charging point to be installed in your home.
What is the Motability Scheme?
With the UK Motability Scheme, those on a higher-rate mobility allowance can exchange it for the lease of a new car. Payments are deducted automatically from the mobility allowance and cover:
- Insurance for up to three named drivers
- Servicing and maintenance costs
- Breakdown cover
- Tyre and windscreen repairs
In most cases, those using the scheme only find themselves regularly paying for fuel. Because charging an EV is usually so much cheaper than filling a traditional car with petrol, it can end up being a very affordable option.
