We had to take our car in for our second service check at the Maidstone Looker branch within two months and the experiences couldn’t have been more different. The first time we had booked a courtesy car for the day and although our car was not looked at until the following morning, this was, if not convenient, at least acceptable as this possibility had been pointed out to us during the booking in process. The second service was for a software update due to a safety recall on the car. When booking the appointment, we were told this would only take an hour and were encouraged to book an hourly slot accordingly. When the vehicle was dropped off, I mentioned another potential fault that might need to be looked into and was informed by the member of staff that looking at this would take the appointment over the agreed hour. As I didn’t have the time on the day, I thanked him for pointing this out and was happy to only have the software update installed. When I returned to Lookers about 50 minutes later, I was told by the reception lady that she would check for an update on the car. Whilst I was waiting for this, I received a message from my car on the Mercedes Me app that it was open and unlocked – a message that gets send within less than 10 minutes of the car being stationery and open. As I received this message at nearly 10 o’clock, this means my car hadn’t been looked at for at least 45 minutes of my so called hourly slot. When I pointed this out to the member of staff who informed me at about quarter past 10 that the car was not ready for at least another 30 minutes, he had the cheek to tell me that these messages are sent with a delay. Yes, a 10 minutes delay, not 45 minutes, what nonsense safety feature would this be if a message is not received for nearly 1 hour! When I pointed out somewhat annoyed at having been plainly lied to, that this had been booked as an hour slot and I didn’t have the time to hang around, he went on to tell me ‘I had picked the wrong day’! How absolutely rude and ridiculous – so it is clearly acceptable to Lookers Mercedes to let customers wait twice the expected time as long as they have nothing else to do that day? I would have fully understood for the software update to have taken longer than anticipated due to a number of reasons, i.e. unexpectedly short staffed on the day, new and unknown software update etc, but clearly nobody felt any need to stick to the time in the first place. I then didn’t receive a phone call after half an hour as promised and on returning was told the car was done and the paperwork needed finalising. At no point did there seem any rush to finish that off either – yes, it’s possible to see all the service staff just milling about in the office. When I was then finally presented with my keys and paperwork after almost 2 hours, this was accompanied with the words ‘your car is parked out there’. No apology, no courtesy, nothing. Well, thank you very much for telling me where my car was, lucky your app works better and more efficiently than your staff and I already knew exactly where my car had been parked, just as my car had told me earlier in the day that nobody had looked at it for at least 45 minutes. Just a little tip for the future – if you feel the need to lie to your customers, make sure it is not easily detectable as such. Also, I cannot help but think that we would have received a better service or at least a more courteous treatment, had my husband dropped off the car instead of me, not a nice feeling to leave Mercedes Lookers Maidstone with. Regrettably I didn’t ask for the names of any of the staff that I had contact with that day but other than the reception lady, a general air of contempt and disregard for the customer seems to be the general service staffs’ work ethics at that particular branch. There should be a better reason to return to a main dealer other than the warranty!

I had some cosmetic repairs done here on my Kia Sportage using their bodyshop. Faye was amazing and got both jobs booked in on the same day , she kept me updated on the progress when I cheked in with her and got the car back earlier in the day than I was expected. The paint work is outstanding and they even took the time and care to paint both doors and really blend in the new paint. My scuffed alloy was also smart repaired and repainted to an absolute perfect colour match. This is such skilled work and I cant believe how quickly this was done, This work was done through a Minor Damage Protection policy that I took out when I bought my Sportage last summer. Really happy with the purchase of my new ID3 car.
