Provisional test drive booked for this morning. Was supposed to get a call to confirm the day before but that didn’t materialise so thought I’d go down anyway to look at the car. According to the website and times at reception, Audi Edinburgh were supposed to be open 10am to 2pm but clearly they decided not to bother today. Even the Audi call centre was disappointed as they had no idea why it was closed, had already had numerous calls from other customers and couldn’t get anyone to pick up their phones to find out what was going on. Shambles. Total waste of time.
I recently came down to Mercedes-Benz of Eastbourne, to look around and see what was available… little did I realise, thanks to Matt’s excellent sales advice, efficiency and customer service, I would be leaving with a purchase! Dropped off my T-Roc for an MOT. Decent communication by email with updates plus a complimentary clean inside and out, a complimentary vehicle inspection report and a free cappuccino and a helpful in person handover. Nothing exciting but great service.
I am completely dissatisfied with the service I received at Audi Ayr. For over 15 years, I have been a loyal and committed customer of the Audi brand, driving both the Audi A6 and A8 D5 models. On May 18th, I was celebrating my 50th birthday and had invited my parents from Poland for this special occasion. I had planned to transport my guests in comfort using my Audi A8 to a restaurant located approximately 30 minutes away from our town. Unfortunately, Audi Ayr made a decision that completely ruined our plans — and my birthday — by unnecessarily and thoughtlessly retaining my vehicle from the very beginning. The vehicle had been booked more than a month in advance, with an appointment scheduled for Monday, May 12th, at 8:00 a.m. It was delivered to Audi Ayr by our local mechanic in Ayr. Prior to the appointment, I received an email from Audi requesting a detailed description of the issue along with photos. I responded promptly and provided a precise technical explanation of the problem, clearly identifying the fault as the front 360-degree camera unit, which needed to be replaced. As per standard Audi procedures, I expected a call in the morning once the vehicle had been inspected. However, no one from Audi contacted us until the late afternoon. At approximately 3:30 p.m., we had to call ourselves to ask for an update. The service advisor we spoke to was not particularly helpful, provided very limited information, and seemed eager to end the call. We were told someone would call us back. About an hour later, a representative called back only to ask if we accepted the diagnostic cost for a three-hour assessment. We agreed immediately, in the hope that the repair would begin the following day — Tuesday, May 13th. On May 13th, we were expecting a call from Audi to confirm the total cost of the repair. Once again, no one contacted us. Late in the day, at 4:35 p.m., I called Audi Ayr again. I was informed that there was no mechanic available and that one would only be present on Wednesday, May 14th. Although the vehicle had been delivered on time by our mechanic, I was told that the Audi staff had left a voicemail for him. He confirmed to us that he had checked his voicemail and found no such message. (Although this detail is minor, it demonstrates the ongoing lack of clarity.) I clearly requested that any communication be made directly with me from that point onward. On Wednesday, May 14th, I once again had to call Audi around midday as we had still not received any updates. Once again, no one knew what was going on, and I was told someone would get back to me. Finally, at 3:56 p.m., I received a call stating that the mechanic would only begin work on the vehicle the next day — Thursday — causing yet another delay. On Thursday, May 15th, no one contacted me again. Once more, I had to call to find out what was happening. When I asked for an update, I was told that the mechanic had only just started work, and this was around midday. I was assured that I would be given more information after lunch. I asked whether a cost estimate was available, and the representative said she would check with the mechanic and call me back. To her credit, she did return the call within 10 minutes and — finally, four days after the scheduled appointment — provided a cost for the repair. However, I was then informed that the required part was not in stock and would need to be ordered. The repair was therefore rescheduled for Monday, May 19th. As a result, I was left without a vehicle on my birthday. Had I been properly informed of the situation from the start, I would have postponed the appointment and kept the vehicle for this important occasion. Unfortunately, we do not need a second car and, living in an area with no public transport, the lack of foresight, poor planning, and organizational negligence on Audi’s part left us without a solution during a particularly meaningful time for me.
Found staff excellent and helpful. No high pressure sales, just were efficient, courteous, well informed, exploring car features and available stock, both on site and from data base. A very satisfied customer.
